Man arrested in connection with Hopewell homicides

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Hopewell police, with help from several jurisdictions, apprehended Shawn Wooden in the shooting deaths of Kashif Temple, 24, and Antonio Spain, 22, according to a Hopewell police news release.

Wooden was arrested in Surry County and is being held without bond at Riverside Regional Jail on charges of two counts of homicide, one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count of possessing a firearm after being convicted of a felony. He was also served with a grand larceny warrant from Petersburg.

Hopewell Police report Temple and Spain were found as officers responded Sunday night around 10 p.m. to a shots fired call in the in the 2300 block of Freeman Street.

Both men died of gunshot wounds to the head, according to the state medical examiner's office.
