Arraignment for GRTC driver changed to Thursday

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A prosecutor for the Commonwealth is taking full responsibility for a big mix up in court this morning.

It involved the GRTC bus driver behind the wheel that hit and killed a pedestrian a week ago.

Commonwealth prosecutor Collette McEachin says it was a lack of communication between her and the court.

The bus driver, Teresa Jones, was scheduled to be in traffic court at 9 a.m. this morning for an arraignment on a reckless driving charge.

Now that hearing will take place tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.

McEachin says she did not tell the court about the change, following discussions with Jones' attorney.

This comes as McEachin is about to review more evidence in the case this afternoon -- including witness statements. Based upon that evidence, more charges against Jones are possible.

If that happens, they likely would not be served for a couple of days.
