RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Baseball is back in Richmond as season tickets go on sale Saturday during the Diamond's Ticketpalooza. And fans across the city are already getting excited.

"I think it's great," says Richmond baseball fan, R.J. Barnes. "I think it's great for the city. It's a great opportunity for the city to make some more money."

Fans can line up as early as Friday night where the party is just beginning. VP of Richmond Pro Baseball, Todd "Parney" Parnell, is camping out all night to greet fans who wanted to be first in line to get tickets.

"When people start showing up in the morning we want to be here," says Parnell. "We want to greet them. We've got a great bunch of people working on our staff. We're excited about meeting our fans."

Parnell received more than 6 thousand entries from Richmonders who entered a contest to name the new team. While he won't say which ones are at the top of the list he did give a little insight as to the type of names suggested.

"Well you've got your fish," says Parnell. "Different derrivites of catfishes and stuff like that. A lot of things connected to the James River. You have your historical names."

Ticketpalooza is just the beginning to the baseball season which begins April 15. Parnell hopes the new team will bring people back to the stadium to enjoy an old family pasttime.
