Hopewell police arrest armed robbery suspect

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Hopewell Police report an arrest in an armed robbery that happened around Thursday afternoon in the 4100 block of Old Iron Court.

The preliminary investigation revealed that while walking, the victim was approached by a subject who was known to the victim. The subject demanded money and briefly struggled with the victim. The subject then assaulted and robbed the victim at gunpoint, after which he fled on foot with the victim's cash.

Police report numerous officers and detectives quickly responded and after obtaining a description of the subject, began a thorough search of the area. The description was also disseminated to other area law enforcement agencies, which led to the subject being detained by the Prince George Police Department.

The subject, later identified as Adriane L. Moore, 19 years of age of Hopewell, was then taken into custody by the Hopewell Police Department and subsequently charged with armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and unlawful wounding. Moore is incarcerated at the Riverside Regional Jail.
