RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - This sign outside the Shockoe Bottom gentleman's Club Velvet is causing quite a bit of outrage.

It shows President Barack Obama dressed as the Joker from Batman. Representatives from the NAACP call the poster racist and want it taken down.

Joining us to talk about this issue from a legal perspective is our legal analyst, Steven Benjamin.

First off Steve, this is on private property, is there any legal action opponents to the sign could take to have it brought down?

But even though the sign is protected by the first ammendment, that doesn't mean those opposed can't continue to voice their displeasure correct?

Whether or not this sign is racist, is certainly up for debate, but is there any section of the first ammendment law that makes an exception for hate speech?

See the responses in the video at right.
