HENRICO COUNTY (WWBT) - A purse snatcher is on the lose after 2 women report separate instances while grocery shopping. It happened first at a Wal-Mart then just minutes later at a Food Lion, both in western part of Henrico County.

"A citizen actually stopped the suspect but the suspect did get away," says Hencrio County sargent, John Cutchin. "About 20 minutes later we had a similar incident on West Broad Street. The suspect was the same, we have him on camera."

Witnesses watched as the suspect got away in a green Toyota with the Virginia license plate KFA-4894. The car is registered to, Robert Newcomb, who witnesses identified as the suspect.

The women had their purse in the shopping cart when they turned away leaving the shopping cart unattended. That's when the suspect saw the crime of opportunity.

"I usually wear purses that don't have long straps but that can go under my armpit so I can elbow them if they try," says shopper Salina Shoulders.

Shoppers at the Food Lion we spoke with tell us they're usually careful when they shop. Leaving your belongings unattended for even one second is enough time for you to fall victim.

"What I do is I don't carry cash," says another shopper, Linda Herman. "I only carry my card."

None of the women were hurt during the incidents. Henrico Police attempted to contact Newcomb at his home but were unable to locate him. If you have any information as to his whereabouts, contact Henrico Police.
