CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Another food delivery driver is robbed in this area. This one happened Wednesday night on Loyal Avenue, near Virginia State University in Chesterfield County.

We've seen a lot of this lately. A food delivery driver goes out on a run and gets robbed, in some cases killed.

Michael Schofield began delivering food for Chanello's Pizza, nearly two months ago.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday night he went to deliver a pizza on Loyal Avenue in Chesterfield.

"It turned out to be a bogus address. A guy flagged me down saying it was his. I figured he was just hanging out," said Schofield.

Schofield got out of his car and walked toward the man, who police now call a suspect.  Schofield froze.

That object in his back ....

"I assume was a pistol because I heard a slider," he said.

Schofield said the men made multiple demands. He said he knows it could have been much worse.

In recent months, there have been at least three violent attacks , including two homicides, involving food delivery men in our area.

Schofield said he's now more alert. He advises all food delivery workers to trust their gut.

Schofield said "If something feels shady, you know just pay attention. I felt kind of shady about the spot but wasn't thinking."

He works for the Chanello's Pizza in Colonial Heights -- but since the crime happened in Chesterfield County -- police in that locality want you to contact the department if you know anything about the robbery.
