HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - A missing persons case in Norfolk may have been partially solved in Hanover county.

According to the Virginian Pilot, the Hanover Sheriff's Office confirmed bones found in the county this past June belong to a 77-year-old man reported missing nine years ago.

Howard "Britt" Fentress traveled to Hanover in October of 2000 to attend a seniors golf tournament. He checked into his hotel and disappeared.

The cause of death hasn't been determined.
