One dies after vehicle accident in Henrico

From NBC12 News

HENRICO, VA (NBC12) - Police are investigating an accident that left one man dead and several children injured.

It happened around 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of Williamsburg Rd. and Klockner Drive just west of the airport.

Police say a car driven by 25-year-old Jerome J. Lewis was traveling east on Williamsburg Rd. when it swerved into the west bound lanes to avoid a moped.

That's when the car collided with an SUV carrying an adult driver and six children.

Those in the SUV were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Lewis and three other passengers in the car were also taken to the hospital.

Police say one of those passengers, 30-year-old Lester Walker Jr., later died of his injuries at VCU Medical Center.

Lewis was charged with DUI.

Police are also looking for the driver of the moped for questioning.
