HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - Police say in early 2008, James Hash, Jr. and his son went on a crime spree in Hanover county. It started at a sporting goods store on Route 1.

"An employee here at Green Top had his vehicle parked behind the building at night, it was broken into," said Heath Brannagan, an investigator with the Hanover County Sherriff's Office.  "A shotgun and some other items were taken out of the vehicle."

That same night, Hash allegedly broke into a construction trailer at the building site of an Arby's restaurant, right up Route 1.

"Ten days after that a house in Henrico was broken into a few miles from where we are, two handguns and other property we're taken from that house," Brannagan said.

Hash didn't stop there, about a week later police say he robbed an auto repair shop and stole an employee's vehicle.

That vehicle was spotted all the way down in Florida where police gave chase and Hash abandonded the car.

"Inside the vehicle was the shotgun that was stolen from the vehicle here at Green Top.  There was also one of the guns stolen from the burglary in Henrico," Brannagan said.

The father and son are also accused of abduction in Florida. They allegedly followed a woman into her home.

"Two subjects threw a sheet over her head, forced her onto her bed, told her they had a gun to her head, tied her up and then stole her vehicle," Brannagan said.

Police have several reports of Hash being spotted in Hanover county over the last few weeks.

"Also have received information about a month and a half ago that he was in the City of Richmond, near VCU."

Investigators need your help in bring James Hash Jr. to justice and offer this advice.

"You could be the next victim, he's victimized people that have helped him out in the past."
