President Obama offers advice in address to students

Posted by Phil Riggan - email

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - President Obama is reaching out to America's school children today, in a speech that has touched off a national controversy.

"Pay attention to those teachers; Unless you listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed," Obama said in the address.

The speech was fed live into some classrooms, on tape in others -- and some didn't play it at all.  Though there was a political dustup -- the speech was about hitting the books and getting ahead.

Our education expert Dr. Bill Bosher joined NBC12 to talk about the message -- that even some conservatives are backing.

See the video at right to see the interview with Dr. Bosher.
