Two dogs kill raccoon with rabies in eastern Henrico

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - The Henrico Police Animal Protection Unit responded Saturday to the 400 block of Penley Avenue in the East End of the county for a report of a dead raccoon in the back yard.

According to the report, the complainant's two dogs had killed the raccoon. The raccoon was submitted to the State Lab and reported that the raccoon came back positive for rabies.

The owner's dogs were up to date on their rabies vaccines and will only have to be quarantined for 45 days. There was no known other animal or human contact with the raccoon.

The Henrico Police Animal Protection Unit would again like to remind citizens to keep their pets vaccinated for rabies.

It's too soon to tell on that, but it does appear fairly certain that this warm/mild pattern will be on it...
