MECHANICSVILLE, VA (WWBT) - An emotional Holly Dodson can finally let it all go. After 8 years of searching for her mother she is finally moving on with her life.

Holly was just 14 years old when her mother, Pam Dodson, went missing. She's gotten her hopes up every time news broke that a female body had been found in her area only to be let down upon identification. Earlier this week, however, she got the call she had been waiting what seemed a lifetime for, confirming her mother's remains had been found.

"I definitely broke down in tears," said Holly. "I was a little hysterical about it but I think anybody would in that circumstance."

Holly tried to continue on with her life, as each year passed with no sign of her mother. Now, Holly is a mother herself to a beautiful baby girl, Haylee, who is now 3 years old. But the hardest part is raising her knowing she will never know who her grandmother was.

"No she doesn't know anything about it. I don't think it's time to tell her maybe when she's a lot older I'll tell her about it," said Holly.

Even though her mother to some had been forgotten, Holly has never given up hope that one day the mother that she barely knew would be found.

"Finally she can rest in peace the proper way," Holly said.

Holly is holding a memorial for her mother. It will be held at:
