RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Richmond daycare being investigated in the death of a toddler has closed down.
The Virginia Department of Social Services said Yellow Brick Road Daycare owner Valerot Whitlow did not appeal the state's decision to revoke her license. The deadline to appeal was August 25.
Whitlow and her son, Keishawn Whitfield, face charges in the death of 13-month-old Andrew Johnson.
Johnson was left in a van in 80 degree temperatures for several hours on July 6 in the 2700 block of Garland Avenue.
Police said Whitfield discovered the child in the van around 4:30 p.m. He was the daycare's driver.
