LOUISA, VA (WWBT) - A plane crash at Lake Anna kills one man, and his 17-year-old daughter is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The ultra-light aircraft stalled and crashed into the water just after 1:00 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities tell us the plane broke into three pieces when it plunged into the water. Eye witnesses still can't believe the stories they're telling after what was supposed to be a fun day in the air turned into tragedy on the waters of Lake Anna.

Barbara Prescop was watching as 46 year old Edward Toth and his 17 year old daughter Heather took to the skies in their ultra-light aircraft.

"When it turned and it started to go down we just thought, 'this can't be happening.' You could hear. It was like pitch silent.  Everybody out here was holding their breath," said Prescop.

Then came the screams. Heather had jumped from the plane just moments before it crashed into the water, but her father was stuck in the aircraft, face down in Lake Anna.

Good samaritans and emergency crews rushed to their aide - including Prescop who, along with a nurse, performed CPR once rescuers were finally able to cut Toth free from the safety belts.

"I just can't shake that because looking at him and how awful it was and how futile it seemed," said Prescop.

Toth was declared dead on scene, his daughter rushed to the hospital.

Workers will be back Monday morning to tow the three pieces of wreckage to an impound lot.

Investigators are trying to figure out what happened before Edward Toth's plane fell out of the sky, killing him and injuring his daughter.
