Senate to extend Cash for Clunkers program

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - It is a program so popular that it ran out of cash within days of its launch. Today the Senate injected another $2 billion into the Cash for Clunkers program to keep it afloat.

No one is experiencing the impact of the program more than Nick Scola, the marketing manager for McGeorge Toyota.

NBC12 spoke with Scola on the day the program was starting and he had high hopes for its success.

Now you have processed quite a few cars, but the feds are still reviewing the criteria. Are you concerned at all, because of the high volume of cars sold, that you may not get everything the government has processed?

This has clearly injected life into a sagging car market, but critics of the program say once the cash incentive is gone, the customers will go with them. Will business stay strong after this has run out?

You have said that because of the specific type of cars that are required to meet the standards of the incentive that some models are not in stock. How are you coping with the demand?
