CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - The Ukrop family helped open a new 34 acre sports complex in Chesterfield County today. It's called Ukrop Park and it contains six lighted athletic fields.

The project cost 8 and a half million dollars and most of the money was donated. The fields will serve as the home for the Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club, which has 69 teams and 800 recreational players.

"This is a wonderful addition economically. It's a wonderful addition for our environment. It's wonderful for youth. It's just wonderful for the area. And it will spawn growth in other areas," said Chesterfield County Supervisor Jim Holland.

An 8 million dollar aquatic center will also go in the park. The 50,000 square foot facility is expected to open next year.
