RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - It's well known that our population of senior citizens is growing. And it is no secret that the challenge of providing special needs care for older adults often falls upon a spouse or adult children.
In fact eldercare by families far exceeds that of nursing homes or other residential care. This often sets up enormous pressure on the family caregiver as they manage a job or even their own health issues.
One alternative available to families in Richmond is Circle Center Adult Day Services. This licensed non-profit service has been providing daytime elder care for over 30 years. Their new facility near Willow Lawn is open six days a week.
Client services include nursing care, organized social activities, help with personal needs, wellness programs, therapeutic exercise and emotional support. There are even educational workshops for family caregivers.
The goal of Circle Center Adult Day Services is to improve the quality of life for both the individual and their family. As a non-profit they invite volunteer support and funding from community organizations and individuals.
