RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Unemployment is over 10 percent in the City of Richmond. What chance does someone over 18 years old without a high school diploma have in this job market?

Unfortunately there are many young adults in our area who have not finished high school. But there is help available.

J Sargeant Reynolds Community College offers The Middle College at their downtown Richmond campus. Middle College is a free college entry opportunity available to persons between the age of 18 and 24 who have not completed high school.

The four month program offers day and evening classes for students to help them earn a GED or get college level preparation for employment. Middle College students can explore career options and get help with financial aid applications. They can even participate in all the student events on campus. It is a second chance for these young people to finish what they started.

Middle College is tuition free because of state and federal funding plus contributions from local individuals, corporations and foundations. For more information about attending or financially helping the Middle College program at J Sargeant Reynolds go online to Reynolds.edu/middlecollege.
