Road Trip: President's Park

By Lauren Compton - email

WILLIAMSBURG, VA (WWBT) - NBC12 has hit the road in search of cheap and quick days trips in your own backyard. First, we decided to walk with the presidents.

There's a place where you can look through the eyes of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. It's just a 45 to 50 minute trip from Richmond to President's Park in Williamsburg and we found the larger-than-life statues of American presidents are even more breath-taking in person.

If you are not familiar with President's Park, you should be. It's home to 42 18-foot tall statues of each American president and it's more than it's just your ordinary history lesson.

In the video, we met with Jennifer Scott, the Fundraising and Event Manager for the park, to get the inside scoop on what makes President's Park so unique (and when we can expect to see Barack Obama's huge head make an appearance).

These statues are meant to last up a 100 years, but don't wait that long to plan your trip. Head to their website to plan your tour. The park is open all year round except Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years.

NOTE: Road Trip is a new online exclusive for  We're trying to help show viewers some days trips and places close to home that offer fun ways to spend your free time.
