RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A Richmond grandmother charged in connection with the shooting death of a five year old has been found competent to stand trial.
Judy Wright, 41, is facing child neglect charges.
Police say her 10 year old son shot and killed her 5 year old grand daughter, Dominque Carter.
According to doctors, Wright's was unable to stand trial for the 10 months.
Prosecutors say Wright left Dominque at home with a mentally disturbed boy and an incapacitated adult. The family had recently moved into the church hill home. Police say the boy eventually found the gun in a packing box.
