CHESTERFIELD, VA (NBC12) - There's new information in the drowning death of a 2-year-old Chesterfield County boy.
The Times Dispatch is reporting the residential swimming pool did not have the required permits and was in violation of several building codes.
For example: code requires a pool gate to be self-closing and self-latching, swing out instead of in and not have large openings that children could stick their hands through to release the latch.
Chesterfield building officials say those things were not addressed at this pool.
