RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Recent news stories reported that Goochland County residents have the highest average income of any county in the U.S.
If you have visited Goochland you've seen the beautiful country estates. But you probably also noticed that not everyone living there is prosperous. The Goochland unemployment rate is nearly 7% and two out of 10 persons have no health insurance. There isn't any public transportation so the social services safety net for these folks is vitally important.
Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services provides professional health care and other important services to low income families who have no insurance. Individuals can receive free medical care, pharmaceuticals and even dental services are available.
Transportation to the Clinic is available for those in need. The Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services also provides other lifelines including a community Food Pantry and a no cost clothing store for area residents.
All of these services are supported by professional volunteers and funded by caring businesses, individuals and foundations. This is a great example of a community organization providing solutions for its neighbors.
