NBC 12 employees honor loved ones

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - All of us here at NBC12 have been touched by war in some way.

Reporter Tara Morgan's grandfather Wesley Smith joined the army in 1942 and served under General Patton in World War II. He died in 1998.

Graphics designer Rob Edmonds' father, Army Lieutenant Colonel Robert Edmonds, earned a Bronze Star in Vietnam. He passed away in 2007.

Roy Warner, the great uncle of Director Dirk Warner, disappeared while flying a mission over China near the end of World War II. He was later declared killed in action.

These are just a few of the pictures and stories that capture the true spirit of Memorial Day, a day to honor service and sacrifice.
