Escaped Goochland inmates captured

SPRINGFIELD, VA (WWBT) - The Virginia Department of Corrections has apprehended the two wanted fugitives that escaped from James River Work Center Saturday night. 

Both fugitives were taken into custody this afternoon without incident in the Springfield area of Northern Virginia, according to the Department of Corrections' Extradition and Fugitive Recovery Unit.

The first apprehension took place around 2:00 p.m. and the second apprehension followed around 2:45 p.m. at the same location.

The Department of Corrections' Extradition and Fugitive Recovery Unit said they thanked the Fairfax County Police Department with their assistance in the apprehension.

    Police say a man has died, after being struck by a car, while he was riding a bicycle in Richmond's southside. It happened just after 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 1600 block of Hopkins Road.
