RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The state is offering residents an incentive to prepare for the hurricane season.
Beginning Monday May 25, items that are useful in the aftermath of a hurricane will be exempt from the 5 percent state and local sales tax during the Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday.
Some of the eligible products include generators, batteries, flashlights, bottled water, duct tape and fire extinguishers.
The sales tax holiday ends Sunday May 31.
