CHESTERFIELD, VA (NBC12) - A milestone for a local non-profit organization.
The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center held it's grand-opening of a brand new family store in Chesterfield County.
It's located at 11000 Midlothian Turnpike.
In this tough economy, demand at stores like this is up 25 to 30 percent so a new location could not have come at a better time.
The flipside though is the stores rely on donations to stay afloat and right now, donations are lagging.
"Everything from clothing to shoes to new furniture, some good used furniture, good used clothing, household items -- pots, pans, dishes, silverware. We got just about anything you can name that goes in your house," said Salvation Army Maj. Paul White.
Money from sales at this new store will go toward helping people to break drug and alcohol addictions and get back on their feet.
