HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A low-cost airline is saluting our Armed Forces.  JetBlue is offering one-dollar flights out of Richmond and Washington-Dulles airports.

For the next three days, JetBlue will be offering all active military personnel the opportunity to take a nonstop flight out of Richmond and Dulles during the month of May for $1.

By the end of the month, JetBlue expects some 250,000 members of the military will have taken to the skies for just one dollar each way. The airline is offering this special promotion in honor of National Military appreciation month.

To be eligible for the dollar flights, travel must be booked and purchased by the service member by phone *only* between now and Thursday, May 7th.

Non-stop destinations from Richmond include Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and NY/JFK Airport.  And servicemen and women need only present a current DOD access card and proof of leave at check-in.

Not only is the airline offering an opportunity for our servicemen to get a much needed break, or visit a loved one, its also donating $15,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Dwayne Faulk, General Manager of JetBlue's Richmond ticket counter says, "To be able to honor military personnel for what they've done for the country for protecting us and serving us in war times I think its great."

"So to be able to see family and friends for such a low price only one buck each way is very economical and is a sure shot to go see a loved one at a very inexpensive cost," Faulk said.

Keep in mind there are no other fees, but passengers are responsible for paying an $11 tax on each flight.
