HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - The teenage girl shot last night in the Highland Springs area of eastern Henrico County has died. She is also believed to have been pregnant.
Henrico Police tell us the call first came into them as a fight and then as a shooting in the Highland Springs area just after 9 p.m.
When police arrived at East Beal Street, near Southoak Avenue, they found multiple vehicles, people scattering and trying to leave the scene.
In the chaos, police also found an 18-year-old female believed to be pregnant was shot...and immediately transported her to a local hospital. Now police are trying to piece together what happened.
"Came out as a shooting/fight call so one became another. So we're very early in the investigation trying to figure out what set that off," said Lt. Mark Banks, Henrico County Police.
Friends of the victim tell NBC12 that she was a student at Highland Springs High School. Police are in the process of looking for several suspects. No specific descriptions are available at this time.
