HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A little boy was found at the bottom of a pool Friday evening. The 7-year-old boy was taken to St. Mary's hospital. His condition is unknown right now.

This took place at a "closed, gated" pool at apartments in the 9400 block of Brightway Court near Gaskins.

The pool water was green and filled with algae. Police got a 911 call about 6:40 p.m.

The boy was at the bottom of the pool. But no one knows how he got into the gated area which had to be pried open by emergency crews. Moments after a couple of good samaritans and a police officer jumped into action.

"One of our police lieutenants was in the area and the first to arrive one adult scaled the fence with the nurse police also scaled the fence and started CPR," said Henrico Police Lt. Gary Watson.

Henrico firefighters then took over resuscitation efforts. Police don't know how long the boy had been underwater.

This investigation is far from over, as police try to determine how the child got into the pool area and "who" was supposed to be watching him.
