CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Steve Benjamin, attorney for a Chesterfield County police officer said the officer has been acquitted on the charge of brandishing a firearm.

Benjamin also said Darnold testified that he never unholstered his weapon.  His weapon and badge were under his shirt.  He lifted his shirt to display his weapon and badge when the occupants of the vehicle were coming towards him.

In March, Frank Darnold III, 25, was arrested in connection with a traffic incident on West Providence Road.

Police say witnesses reported Darnold displayed a firearm during a confrontation with a motorist. He was off-duty and not in uniform at the time.
