Man accused of causing $18,000 worth of damage to local car dealership

RICHMOND, VA (NBC12) - A Long Island man is facing felony charges for vandalizing 18 cars at the Richmond BMW dealership.

34-year-old George Gehrlein was arrested early Friday morning.

Police believe he used a baseball bat to smash car windows, causing $18,000 in damage.

Gehrlein was caught by an off-duty police officer who was performing private security at the dealership.

The charges include felony vandalism, trespassing, and wearing a ski mask in public.
