RICHMOND, VA (NBC12) - Economics could force GRTC to scale back two popular bus routes.
It would not however eliminate them all together.
The proposal would merge the Westhampton and Main Street-Church Hill routes into one.
The new route would travel from downtown West to Carytown.
An express service would allow those bound for the University of Richmond to transfer to the combined route.
GRTC needs this plan.
Along with the elimination of several others around the city, to help with a four-million dollar deficit in 2010.
And there's still no guarantee that fares won't be raised.
