PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) - Landing a job may be easier said than done for college students graduating this year. That's one reason why a local church is trying to lend a hand. Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Petersburg will host Young Dreamers College and Career Expo April 4.

The goal is two fold, to inspire the youth and to connect soon to be high school and college graduates with working professionals in an effort to create job opportunities.

Nearly 60 college and business vendors will be on hand. Organizers say the event is needed now more than ever.

"This is important to have specifically for our young people because they can't lose their capacity to dream. They can't allow present day circumstances to abort their future," said Good Shepherd Baptist Church Rev. John Faison.

The Young Dreamers College and Career Expo is Saturday, April 4 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church on South Crater Road in Petersburg. It starts at noon and ends at four. It's free and open to the public.
