RADFORD, VA (WWBT) - Radford University officials lifted a campus lockdown around 3 a.m. Friday.

The lockdown went into effect for five hours while police searched for a man suspected of shooting someone near the campus.

Radford Police Chief Don Goodman says the shooting happened around 9 p.m. Thursday. Officers say 33 year old Floyd Wright Junior died after he and another man got into a fight a couple blocks away from campus. The gunman then ran off.

The university said in an e-mail that the suspect was seen near the school's Bonnie Hurlbert Student Center.

A news release from the city of Radford says the man, who was wearing no shirt, a camouflaged jacket, and do-rag, is considered armed and dangerous.

As of 6 a.m. Friday, Radford Univerisity will resume normal operations.

Police don't believe the shooting suspect are Radford University students.
