HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A body was found in a Henrico home Thursday afternoon. Police say they don't know how the victim died but are calling it a homicide.

Police have yet to identify the victim, but family members and neighbors say it is likely Darius Posten, who had been missing for several days.

After receiving a strange tip to and on suspicion by family members, police broke into break into Posten's home Thursday afternoon. Authorities say the body had likely been there for several days.

Resident James Ready says he would often talk with Posten, who lived just across the street.

"He would come and joke with me or something like that. We'd be joking with each other," Ready said.

So when Posten wasn't around for a few days without much explanation, his neighbor began to wonder.

"Yeah that was odd, I would always see him coming and going," Ready said.

It was odd, but not odd enough for anyone to realize that a body was laying in the house.

Police were called to the scene Wednesday night after a mysterious call from a pay phone alerting them to a shooting in the area. The caller didn't give their identity. Police responded to the scene but didn't find anything.

It wasn't until Thursday afternoon that a friend of the victim came to the home and helped police get inside. It was then the body was finally discovered.

Police are looking for any leads that might help give them insight into the crime.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Henrico police at 501-5000.
