RADFORD, Va. (AP) - Hundreds of Radford University students stormed out of a public forum because administrators would not answer their questions about elimination of school programs.
Nearly 1,000 students, faculty and staff members attended the meeting Thursday that university President Penelope Kyle called to address the budget.
She says the school will receive about $7.6 million less in state funds in the next fiscal year.
But the forum came in the middle of reviews of 29 academic programs at Radford that may be discontinued.
Provost Wil Stanton says the program reviews have nothing to do with the budget and are part of a long-term strategy to better utilize resources.
When students couldn't get their questions about the programs answered, most of them walked out.
