CULPEPER, VA (NBC12) - State Police crash reconstruction crews continue to investigate an accident that killed four people and sent two others to the hospital.
It happened just before 3:00 Sunday morning on Rt. 3 a few miles east of the city of Culpeper.
Police say a SUV driven by 29-year-old Eugene T. Green was driving on the wrong side of the road when he crashed into an oncoming car carrying 5 people.
Four died at the scene.
The driver and front seat passenger were both from Ruckersville, VA and have been identified as 20-year-old Tyler S. Harlow and 20-year-old Joseph L. Sahnow.
Two of the three backseat passengers were also killed.
They are identified as 19-year-old Tianna V. Jones of Standardsville, VA and 21-year-old James B. Cook of Marshfield, Vermont.
The third rear passenger, 27-year-old Howard J. Steiniger of Fredericksburg, VA was flown to Mary Washington Hospital and then to VCU Medical Center for treatment.
His condition was not released.
Green was also air-lifted to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment.
Police say charges are pending a full investigation but say alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
