One injured in overnight attempted robbery

RICHMOND, VA (NBC12) - Richmond Police are investigating an attempted robbery that sent one man to the hospital.

Around 11:30 Friday night Police say a man was walking near 1st and Baker St. when he was approached by another man with a gun who demanded his money.

Police say the two began fighting but the struggle abruptly ended when the victim heard gunshots.

The victim ran to his vehicle that was parked nearby and fled the scene.

After driving off, the victim noticed he had been shot in the arm and leg.

He then called police for help.

The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

A few hours later, police responded to another robbery in the 100 block of W. Brooklyn Park Blvd.

Police say a worker of China Town Express had closed the restaurant and was walking to his vehicle when he was approached by two men, one with a rifle.

The men demanded the victim's money and ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The victim was unharmed in the robbery.

Police say they have no suspects in either of these incidents but ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
