For National Hispanic Heritage Month we take a look at Mission Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de Acuña, the oldest unrestored stone church in the US. This historical mission was named in honor of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception and Juan de Acuña, the Marqués de Casafuerte.
To honor the achievements of Hispanics in America, the Congress has authorized and requested the President to issue annually a proclamation designating September 15 through October 15 as "National Hispanic Heritage Month."
Immigrants from Spanish-speaking countries have succeeded in many fields of endeavor after migrating to the United States. We've selected a cross-section of emigrees from many Latin American countries. You've probably heard about many of these people, but some many be new to you.
