RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Just call Richmond the "Cinderella City," as March Madness hit its second week with two local teams still alive in the NCAA tournament.
Even if their bracket is all busted up, basketball fans in Richmond are excited to see two of their teams still alive in the tournament - and there's no place quite like a sports talk radio show to get the pulse of what local sports fans are thinking.
Greg Burton hosts "Hardly Workin' with Greg Burton," the afternoon drive show on ESPN radio 950 am.
Burton is used to getting plenty of phone calls during March Madness, but on Monday he had a rush of calls. Fans wanted to give their opinion about this weekend's games, but most just wanted to say how proud they are that their teams defied the odds.
Burton said after his show Monday that he had the most first-time callers ever on one day in the history of his show.
Richmond and VCU both play Friday in the Sweet 16.
