Man arrested for robbery at Colonial Heights 7-11

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - On Thursday at 11:15 a.m., the Colonial Heights Police Department responded to the 7-11 located at 617 Boulevard for a report of a strong arm robbery.

The suspect was last seen running towards the Wa-Wa at the intersection of Dupuy Avenue and the Boulevard.  Officers were in the area within minutes and were able to apprehend the suspect in the 100 block of Dupuy Avenue.

The investigation revealed that the suspect had asked the victim to remove a necklace that he was wearing so that he could "look at it." When the victim refused, the suspect grabbed the necklace and tore it from the victim's neck.  The suspect then fled the store on foot.

Cajuan Garnes, 27, of Ettrick was charged with robbery and trespassing.  He is being held in the Riverside Regional Jail with no bond.
