Overnight shootings in Richmond, Henrico

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - We are following breaking news out of western Henrico where investigators are on the scene of a shooting.

It started around 5:30 Sunday morning in the 10300 block of Longdale Avenue in Glen Allen.

According to police, a man forced his way into the home of an elderly woman and demanded money.

At that point, her adult grandson arrived, a struggle ensued and the robber ended up getting shot.

That man is in surgery with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

The elderly woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

It's not immediately clear where the gun came from.

We'll bring you more details as they become available.

Meanwhile, Richmond police are looking for a suspect in a separate overnight shooting.

It happened around 11:00 Saturday night in the 1100 block of Jennie Scher Road in the east end.

Few details have yet been release but police say the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, and is in stable condition at VCU Medical Center.

Anyone with information on either of these crimes is urged to call police.
