POWHATAN, VA (WWBT) - A group of corrections officers charged with animal cruelty, will not face prosecution after all.
The commonwealth's attorney in Powhatan decided to drop charges against the five officers, who were in training to become K-9 handlers.
In an apparent hazing incident last summer, one of the officers was told to make sexual contact with a dog, while the others videotaped it.
Prosecutors are now convinced the act did not amount to animal cruelty.
