RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - On Saturday head on over to Historic Old Towne Petersburg for the Fall Family Festival. You can enjoy arts, crafts, entertainment, petting zoos, and historic walking tours of the city. The festival will highlights the exciting revitilization projects in Peterburg. For the first time ever, the Virginia State University School of Agriculture will bring its exhibit to Petersburg for your enjoyment! The festival kicks off at 7am at the Farmer's Market in Peterburg. This event is proudly sponsored by the City of Petersburg and the Department of Tourism.
The 28th Annual Midlothian Village Day Festival is this Saturday from 10am to 3pm. Proceeds from the festival support the Cinderella Dreams Project and other community organizations like the Richmond Friends of Homeless, Warren's Hope and the YWCA. The festival is a community event filled with crafts, community booths, games, and a silent auction to benefit the Mylicia Markham Leadership scholarship. A parade will kick off at 10am at the Village Market Place Shopping Center followed by the festival at 10am to 3pm at the Midlothian Middle School.
The 17th Street Farmer's market will host the first annual Shocktoberfest, a Bavarian-style festival this Saturday from 11am to 5pm. There will be old world German-Hungarian food, German bands, polka music and much more. Admission is free.
The Harvest Festival at Meadow Farm Museum, Crump park will feature demostrations depicting homemaking and farming tasks of the era, along with children's crafts.The Great Pumpkin Patch will be available for children ages 3-12. Musical performances by the Christopher Dean Band, Americana folk rock by The Orderlies, and the Elegba Folklore Society. The festival is from noon to 4pm. Admission is free. Just in time for the holidays, the 3rd Annual MAC Events Home show comes to Richmond with ideas and tips to help you decorate your home. You can get free admission to the event with a food or cash donation to support the Central Virginia Food Bank. Hundreds of the areas best, upscale companies will be on hand to assist with your home projects. Special guest Steve Katkowsy, known for his book, Danger Construction Zone, Your Guided Tour to a Succesful Remodling Project, will present two seminars. The home show is this Saturday and Sunday.
The Hard Times Fall Festival started last year in response to the hard economic times. The festival is an inexpensive community barbecue the whole family can enjoy. All proceeds from the event will fund youth projects in the area. The festival will feature music by Spectrum, 10-piece variety band, food from King Korner's , and much more. The Hard Times Fall Festival will be held on Wednesday, October 14, at the Village Green on Rt 10 in Chester. The event will run from 4:00-8:00 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults. Children 10 and under $5. Tickets can be purchased from members of the Kiwanis Club of Chester and at Chester's Uno, Chesterfield Flagstop Car Wash. No ticket sales are made at the gate.
