Armed robbery suspect arrested after trying to run from police

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police have made an arrest in a robbery that occurred in the Fan on Monday night.

Police received a report of an armed robbery on West Cary Street just before 10 p.m. A man told police he was approached by a man and robbed at gunpoint.

When officers arrived on scene, they spotted the suspect.

The suspect tried to run away from police, but he was caught.

He was identified as 23-year-old Dante E. Burgos, of Mechanicsville. Burgos was taken into custody and charged with robbery, possession of a firearm during a commission of felony and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The incident was captured on a Ring surveillance video, which assisted police in the investigation.

Police encourage all Richmond residents to download the Neighbors app whether you own a Ring camera or not.
