CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at northbound I-95 at the 67.2 mile marker on Thursday evening.
Police investigation revealed that a Freightlinter tractor hauling wood attempted to make a lane change, striking a Mazda 3 on the driver’s side.
The tractor then lost control, flipping onto its left side and skidding across the left lane and shoulder. The wood load spilled onto the southbound side of I-95.
The tractor also sustained a diesel fuel leak.
The driver of the tractor, Jeremiah Perry, 32, of Newport News, was wearing his seatbelt and did not suffer any injuries. The driver and passenger in the Mazsa were also wearing seatbelts and did not suffer any injuries.
Road closures along I-95 continue due to the cleanup process.
Perry has been charged with reckless driving.
The crash remains under investigation.
