RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A Mexican national wanted for double-murder in Mexico was removed from the U.S. after being arrested in Weems, VA.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement extradited Jose Froylan Garcia Melendez on Tuesday to face the charges in Victoria, Mexico.

Melendez entered the U.S. on Sept. 27 with an H2-B visa and was arrested two days later at his place of employment in Weems on immigration violations, the Department of Homeland Security said. The department said Melendez intended to stay in the U.S. but did not have the proper documents to do so.

One day following his arrest, on Sept. 30, law enforcement in Mexico issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with the double murder.

An order for Melendez’s removal was issued Nov. 30 and he waived his right to an appeal.
