Duo charged after passing counterfeit bills at shopping mall

FREDERICKSBURG, VA (WWBT) - Briana Renee Brown, 22, of Waldorf, Maryland and Babo Opeyemi Obaro, 24, of White Plains, Maryland were arrested after passing counterfeit bills at four businesses in the Cowan Crossing Strip Mall.

On Dec. 3, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Brown and Obaro passed counterfeit money at Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s, Vocelli’s Pizzza and Chipotle.

On Wednesday, Dec. 12, the duo entered the same Starbucks and attempted to pass counterfeit money again. An employee contacted police after recognizing the pair from wanted flyers.

Obaro was charged with five counts of forging coins/banknotes, five counts of obtaining money by false pretenses and possession of forged coin/banknotes.

Brown was charged with two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses and three counts of banknote/coin forgery.

Both suspects have been charged by other local jurisdictions for the same crime. Brown and Obaro are currently incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
