Dog ‘crawling with infection’ taken in by RACC doing well in adoptive home

NBC12 WWBT - RACC needs help investigating abandoned dog

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A dog that was taken in by Richmond Animal Care and Control with severe health issues in September is doing much better at her adoptive home.

Annabelle was found in a trash bag near Rock Church on Richmond’s south side. At the time, RACC said the dog is “crawling with infection and needs immediate medical attention.”

“She has not been cared for properly in any capacity,” RACC said. “She has a terrible case of mange, upper respiratory infection and her eyes have infections.”

Investigators were looking for information on Annabelle’s former life.

But in her new life, the Shih Tzu mix has overcome her mange and has long, curly hair.

The shelter posted to its Facebook page pictures of Annabelle when she was first rescued and shared before and after pictures in January.
