NBC12 WWBT - RACC needs help investigating abandoned dog

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Animal Care and Control is looking for information about a seriously ill dog recently discovered in a trash bag.

The shelter posted to its Facebook page pictures of a spayed Shih Tzu mix with a severe infection.

The dog was found near Rock Church on Richmond’s south side in a garbage bag.

RACC said the dog is “crawling with infection and needs immediate medical attention.”

The dog has been named Annabelle and RACC said she was clearly a household pet at one point.

“She has not been cared for properly in any capacity,” RACC said. “She has a terrible case of mange, upper respiratory infection and her eyes have infections.”

Investigators want to hear from anyone who has any information regarding Annabelle’s former life.
